Our Purpose

God's plan for the church is simple.

LOVINGGOD

“And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”  (Mark 12:28-30)

First, we must receive His love, by receiving Jesus Christ as our Saviour by faith. Then, we demonstrate our love for Him when we gather for worship services, when we bring Him our tithes and offerings, and as we walk with Him personally through prayer and Bible study.

GROWINGTOGETHER

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

Spiritual growth is a team sport. This teamwork happens when we unite in participation with the local church and continues as we study the Bible on our own or with a mentor. Ultimately, spiritual growth means taking continual, personal steps toward Christ-likeness.

SERVINGOTHERS

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” (1 Peter 4:10)

God has gifted us to serve Him and others. We exercise this purpose when we find a place to serve within the church--the possibilities are endless. We are also privileged to serve those outside the church by sharing the gospel with friends, by positively impacting our community in the name of Jesus, and by supporting the worldwide spread of the Gospel through missions.

This is God's purpose for individuals. All of our actions should only be governed by our love for Christ. Once that has been established, then that will produce the love necessary to love and serve others. As those two goals work together, it produces a result of growing together as a church. When this is done as the Bible shows, it comes full circle as the result is found in Acts 2:46-47 “…singleness of heart, praising God…”
