Loving God, Serving Others, Growing Together

The purpose we strive for here at Grace Baptist Church is first and foremost, Biblical. The Bible is God’s plan for mankind and in it contains all the necessary instructions to honor Him and help others. Since the Bible is the basis for the church, we have incorporated biblical truths into our logo as a continued focus of our purpose.

1) First of all, we are called to love God.
Mark 12:28-30 “And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”

2) Secondly, we are called to love others just as we love ourselves.
Mark 12:31-33 “And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

3) Thirdly, we are called to grow together.
Acts 2:41-47 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

God’s purpose for mankind is to first love Him. All of our actions should only be governed out of a love for Christ. Once, that has been established, then that will produce the love necessary to love and serve others. As those two goals work together, it produces a result of growing together as a church. When this is done as the Bible shows, it comes full circle as the result is found in Acts 2:46-47 “…singleness of heart, praising God…”
